Artist Doreen Doherty
Throughout her life, Canadian artist Doreen Doherty has had a passion for all things artistic. She has applied her creativity to many pursuits over the years, but in 1999, she turned her talents to watercolor paintings.
Her motivation to start painting watercolors was a result of being diagnosed with colon cancer - and undergoing an operation that kept Doreen from her work as a full-time graphic and layout design artist for many months. As a form of therapy while undergoing chemotherapy, she decided to pursue watercolor painting. Doreen developed a love and passion for this particular type of artistic expression.
Her interest in watercolor painting has continued long after her battle with cancer was won. She has continued to produce numerous paintings and frameable artcards.
Doreen's paintings have been showcased in numerous art shows and exhibitions. Her paintings now hang in homes and offices across Canada, as well as in the United States, Great Britian and Australia. Some of her artwork has been made into limited edition prints or used to create Christmas and other greeting cards, primarily for use by various corporate clients who appreciate the creativity and originality of her artwork.
As a survivor of cancer, Doreen believes very strongly in doing whatever it takes to deal with the challenges of life. Doreen has two adult children, and in addition to painting, she continues to work as a graphic designer. Doreen has over 17 years' experience as a design and layout artist producing magazines, newsletters, pamphlets, etc.
